This is a sight for us to remember. During the COVID years, this painting came to our cafe under a curious circumstance. The theme is easily recognizable - English primatologist, anthropologist and conservationist Jane Goodall hugging her beloved chimpanzee, which she spent 60 years of her life studying and protecting.

The painting's owner, having relocated overseas, could not collect the painting after purchase, so he chose to leave it under the care of the art gallery he bought from. Unfortunately, COVID claimed the business of the art gallery. Through a mutual friend, the owner graciously agreed to let Sun Ray Cafe take care of it while he was still overseas. Oh, how magnificent did this piece of art and the theme it represents adorns our otherwise barren wall! It highlights a message of animal protection which resonates with what Sun Ray Cafe represents.

This weekend, the owner is taking back this awe-inspiring painting. Drop by to take a last photo with it, as our cafe prepares to put on a new dress next Tuesday onwards!

As a side note, Sun Ray Cafe is 14 this year. In doggie years, we are a century old, likewise compared to the average lifespan of Singapore cafes. We are equally amazed and surprised by our longevity. May we live longer still!
