The table was already full when the last dish arrived.

Steam rose gently, carrying familiar aromas that made the room feel warmer than it already was. Someone reached for the teapot. Someone else adjusted an extra chair—just in case another guest decided to join after all.

It was one of those meals that didn’t follow a plan. Dishes were shared without counting, conversations overlapped, laughter grew louder as the night went on. Between bites, stories from years past surfaced—some retold for the hundredth time, some heard for the first.

As the festive season settled in, this became the place they returned to. Not for occasions marked on a calendar, but for evenings that asked for comfort, familiarity, and food that felt like home. The kind of meal that doesn’t rush you, that invites you to linger long after the plates are cleared.

Outside, the city moved quickly. Inside, time softened. The clink of porcelain, the warmth of the dishes, the quiet understanding that some traditions don’t need to be announced—they simply continue.

And so they stayed a little longer, sharing one last cup of tea, letting the night close gently around the table.

A short festive reflection this year. Merry Christmas everyone, from all of us at Hillman!

🐟 Savour Hillman's Pre-Ordered (1 day Advance) Oil Poached Live Soon Hock Fish with Black Sauce, very smooth texture & tender, crafted by our Chef's skill in maintaining a consistently low oil temperature to cook the fish till it's done. 🍴✨ The traditional old-school method of preparing 油浸笋壳鱼。
