Dear friends, supporters, and customers,
Over the past week, Marie's Lapis Cafe has been hit by a wave of 1-star reviews that pulled our Google rating from 4.7 down to 4.6 — a score we earned slowly, over five years of hard work.
Since Covid, we have toiled every single day, with no rest and no breaks, pouring everything we have into our food and the Peranakan heritage behind it. Your Google reviews are one of the few ways we truly hear from you. They tell us what we're getting right and where we can do better.
We have never paid for or incentivised a single review. Every honest one is hard-earned. So it stings to watch fake 1-star ratings appear out of nowhere — no order, no visit, no reason — and to see the stars only ever fall, never rise.
We've reported these reviews to Google and we hope they will act.
But the best answer to dishonest reviews is honest ones. If we've ever served you a good meal, a slice of lapis, or simply a warm welcome, would you take a moment to leave us a genuine review? It would mean the world to us, and it would help drown out the noise.
