Greetings to all Rice and Rolls followers! 😁😁

It has been 2 months since we have closed our stall, explored the island and shifting through opportunities if it is really viable to continue serving you an awesome plate of Stone-Milled Cheong Fun! Sadly, the current economy is not in our favour, weighing the rent, supplies and other overheads. Hence, we decided to hang our aprons until the time is right.

When a door closes, another door of opportunity opens.

The founders of Rice & Roll are now flipping and rolling at a Gymnastics Space at Galaxy Gymnastics SG 🎉🎉🎉

Located on the 2nd level of City Square Mall, Singapore , next to Decathlon. It is a space where kids and adults get to learn gymnastics and Movement based classes and activities. A Gym Out of This World! 🌍 Swipe right to see a few snippets of us in action ❤️❤️❤️

Clearing out and making sure the stall will be awesome clean and nice for our neighbour

It was a good 2 years of making deliciously nice Stone-Milled Cheong Fun for everyone. We will miss making the rolls, miss serving the high rollers and the community here. It is the damn great friendship and kampung spirit that made everyday a good day to work at this stall.

Thank you all who gave us your well wishes and encouraging us to come back soon. To some of our regulars, they swear by our Cheong Fun is the best there is, the best there was and the best there will ever be 😁😁😁

One of our High Rollers even said "There is no more reason to come back to this coffeeshop again since you guys will be gone" 😲😲😲

We are truly humbled by such attestation, and its such affirmation that we end things on a high note.

Now it's the time to take a break, see the world and hopefully the economy outlook in 2023 would be viable for us on a new location. For now, we will give our steamer and stonemill a good wash and clean.

And we are down to 3 more days to our last day of operations on the 27th November 2022!

Some customers tell us its a pity to close as our rolls are really unique, Thin- Fresh- Silky. The traditional way of making and cooking the rolls, and our choice of ingredients are so interesting! These are the words attested by our regular customers or we call them high Rollers 😉

We will be back but we are not putting a date. As humans, the best experience is to travel, be brave to open and be bold to close it. Because once we have gained that experience, it's a level up in life.

Come on down get some Stone-Milled Cheong Fun because there are no other Cheong Fun stalls out there can match ours. Even they copy, we take it as a compliment, but at least acknowledge and credit us lah 😏😏

Thank you to those who tried once, ate twice and came back thrice for our Stone-Milled Cheong Fun! 😘😘

Glad to see some familiar faces and your verbal attestation to our rolls. We are truly grateful for your support throughout.

While we miss the joy of managing the stall, the community and seeing the various emotions from our customers, we also miss the freedom to travel, see the world and be adventurous in our lives.

Counting down to a great end and looking forward to a great start.

19 more days until we permanently hang up our aprons, off the stall lights and our stone mill can finally take a long break. 😉

Hi everyone! Yes we are closing down. We will be taking a break, because we want to explore and travel, it is always great to pause and focus on other things in our other lives. We also hope to be learning from other fnb veterans out there, and with a renewed experience to be back rolling again in 2023.

We do not have any dates or so to restart, but we are actively looking for opportunities to provide the thin, silky and fresh Stone-Milled Cheong Fun to everyone! So follow our social media to be updated.

Simply pick a roll from our menu and you get to add up to 3 additional ingredients to your roll!

That's why some of our customers go crazy and add all protein based or veg based ingredients into their rolls. Now who said Cheong Fun cannot be a complete meal?

Every ending is a new beginning. As we come towards the end of 2022, we have been evaluating our next chapter of Rice & Roll.

The inflation have hit most businesses hard. From utilities, ingredients to rent, prices have been climbing upwards and no signs of stopping. From a few cents to a few dollars per unit or volume, but over in a month it all adds up to additional few hundred dollars.

Manpower has always been an issue, seldom we have locals who wants to be in this trade. To hire foreigners, we are faced with conditions such as Local Qualifying Salaries and foreigner levy tax, this is something that small businesses cannot afford and/or meet both conditions.

We had plans to expand towards the year end, however the rent inflation out there made us hold back on our plans.

Our salaries and profits have been decreasing due to price inflation. We do not want to increase our food prices. Anything higher than the threshold, we will lose potential customers. Ever since we are allowed to travel and move more freely, our stall revenue has been slowly declining. Our current stall is a heartland area, there is so much we can attract.

Therefore, we have decided that now is the time to take a break, see the world and come back hopefully in 2023 to roll our way back and continue making thin, freshly made Stone-Milled Cheong Fun to you.

We had so many good memories running this stall and meeting people from all walks of life. Working in this place with a supportive and awesome community is an experience that we can never get elsewhere.

Your encouragement and positive feedback on our food always gave us the motivation to do better. We are open to your suggestions and ideas on where will our next stall be or what support we could get.

On behalf of our Rice & Roll crew, past and present, a big thank you for your support for these past 2 years. You have until 30th November 2022 to come and get your rolls.
