If Mid-Autumn has crept up on you, you're in better shape than you think.

Our online store have closed, but my team and I are still at seven counters across the island until Fri 25 Sep.

There's no delivery date to pick and no waiting in for a courier. You walk up, taste what you like, and carry the box out with you.

That's the quiet advantage of a booth. You get to sample before you commit, so whatever you hand over on is something you've tasted yourself.

Our mooncake box has been promoted to jewellery box. 😌

Not our idea originally. Someone kept theirs, filled it with a jade bangle and whatever else was worth keeping, and told us about it.

So that's what L'Écrin is now. Lid comes off whole, mooncakes come out, box moves onto the dresser.

Écrin is French for the case that holds a jewel, which we're taking as confirmation we got the name right. 🧡

The first time we made it, the flavours didn't match. 🍵

Japanese yuzu against lotus paste. Sharp in all the wrong places.

So Chef added grapefruit purée to round the yuzu off, then Valrhona Yuzu Inspiration folded through so the filling stays bright instead of heavy.

That's how our Uji Matcha White Lotus with Valrhona Yuzu Chocolate turned into the one everybody comes back for.

Worth getting wrong the first time. 🧡
