Grattis på nationaldagen Sverige! 🇸🇪
Have you ever wondered why Sweden celebrates national day on June 6? Sweden celebrates this day in memory of Gustav Vasa, who became Sweden's king on June 6, 1523, and in memory of the 1809 form of government being written on the same date.
In 1983, June 6 officially became Sweden's national day. Previously, the day was called Swedish Flag Day. It was not until 2005 that the national day also became a public holiday in Sweden.
