We are excited to have coffee from Kenya back in, and Mugaya with is crisp and tropical stone fruits will certainly will set the bar high for the year. We roasted have roasted, set the flavour profile and released it. The yellow tropical stone fruit like Mugaya is now available online, and at the café on Friday.

This is a vibrant and crisp cup with an aroma of caramel. The flavour notes are dominated by tropical stone fruit, yellow raisin and a long-lasting cooling finish of rhubarb. The mouthfeel is light yet coating.

Summer didn’t wait for you to arrive, but we certainly missed you. We are waiting for Tekangu AA and Kamwangi AA and PB to arrive our roastery soon too.

Coffee release Friday!

There are many experiments in processing speciality coffee at the moment. This coffee is lactic processed, which is interesting on its own. But there is another experiment, underneath this, that excites us even more: how the coffee has been removed from the branch of the coffee plant and harvested without breaking the coffee cherries’ structure. Instead of picking the coffee by hand, this method involves cutting them off the branch, cherry by cherry, using scissors. We are not saying this is the direction to go; it is purely an experiment on how to increase the highest level of coffee even more.
With all humbleness for the cost to produce a coffee harvested in the way, we are beyond excited to see how this gentleness improves the coffee quality.

This coffee has a floral aroma. It is a complex yet delicate taste profile. Flavour notes of jasmine, cacao nibs and bubble tea with a refreshingly bright acidity of white wine. The coffee has a long-lasting citric aftertaste. The body is light and the finish tart.

This is a tiny lot we are releasing at the café (available from mid-next week) and online only. First come, first served.

We are preparing to send out our latest release as the July Drop Coffee Subscription. Link to subscribe in our bio.

It is the honey process SL28, kenyan varietal, wild grown project from Las Brumas, Santa Ana, El Salvador.

Located in Apaneca-Ilamatepec mountain range, Las Brumas is totally different from any other coffee farm we’ve ever seen. At Las Brumas, Ernesto is doing a Wild Coffee Project (WCP), inspired by how coffee was originally found in Yemen and Ethiopia. These SL28, Kenyan, coffee trees are spread out in the forest to be built up as wild grown as possible, without interfering with nature. He doesn’t apply and chemicals and just lets the nature create the character and strength of the coffee.

The SL28 is chocolatey yet transparent with flavour notes of crisp green grape and strawberry flavour with a cooling finish.

Sign up to our monthly subscription now to receive the Las Brumas honey SL28 for a more profitable price in July, or order it online as normal ( at dropcoffee.com ).

Friday is a national holiday in Sweden. We take time to celebrate the sun and nature at its peak together with friends and family.

We will not be able to ship on Friday, but the coffee shop is open as usual. The shelves are now filled up with coffee to bring to your celebration.

We are longing to have the harvest from Ethiopia coming in. Normally, it is landing by this time of the year, but it will be another six weeks.

Due to the conflicts in the Middle East, our exporter in Addis Ababa has been struggling to find a container. Last weekend, it left Ethiopia by train for Djibouti and is being shipped on a boat from there as I write.

So please hold on a bit longer. I think Carmalita’s coffee from Caranavi is the Hunkute version of Bolivia, so maybe give that a try as you wait.

Friday! We had a busy week at the roastery, keeping us busy with ordering coffee to excellent cafés and sending out Finca Nejapa in the June subscription.

This time of year easily gets into a full social mood for everyone; remember to drink and bring some juicy coffee. The café is open, and the webshop is of course always open, back roasting on Monday.

Our coffee packaging rebranding is slowly underway. It will all be done by early autumn this year, and we will, of course, come back to present that. We will have a little gap in the 1000g bags packaging. Same coffee on the inside.

In the meantime, we will have temporary packaging for 1000g, but it is still the same coffee on the inside.

So this is how the temporary 1000g bags will look, only until the new design comes.

This week and next week we are doing a small and exclusive lot only for the cafe. It is as small as a 40 kilo Batian varietal from Floripondio in the Samiapata area in Bolivia.

At the farm, it is growing a lot of Floripondio flowers, hence the name. The flower is thought to have hallucinogenic effects, but it also symbolises change and new beginnings.

A decade ago, the Batian variety was bred by Kenya’s Coffee Institute. Since then, it has successfully been propagated throughout Kenya. The Batian is designed to be resistance to rust and disease yet keeping its berry driven taste profile. And now, we are slowly starting to see producers outside of East Africa, both in the central and South America, trying it out and discovering its qualities. So as this is only a 40 kilo lot, we are keen to have it and share it with our visitors at the café. For now, we got some boxes on the shelves and from mid next week it will be on the filter coffee menu.
