🎙️ New Podcast Episode

Last week we had the pleasure of welcoming the team from Qima Coffee to Stockholm for the first Swedish Qima cupping ever.

Before recording, we spent several hours tasting an incredible lineup of coffees from Yemen, Ecuador, and Colombia. The table included current releases, freezer archive selections, competition coffees, and lots from programmes such as Best of Yemen and the Ecuador Farmer’s Collection.

After the cupping, we sat down together to discuss the ideas, decisions, and long-term vision that have shaped Qima into one of the most influential sourcing companies in specialty coffee today.

We talk about producer relationships, quality, transparency, Yemen’s coffee renaissance, farmer development programmes, competition coffees, and what is happening at origin right now.

For anyone interested in coffee beyond the cup, this is a conversation worth listening to.

A huge thank you to the entire Qima team for sharing both their coffees and their story with us.

Standout Coffee Opens New Stockholm Location at Singular Society Flagship Store
– Bringing Competition-Level Coffee to Östermalm

Stockholm-based Standout Coffee is opening its second Stockholm location inside Singular Society’s new flagship store at Birger Jarlsgatan 28, with its own entrance at Engelbrektsplan 2.

Founded by Swedish Barista Champions Oskar Garberg and Alexander Ruas, Standout Coffee has become known internationally for sourcing and roasting some of the world’s most sought-after coffees. From rare micro lots to competition-level Gesha coffees, the company today ships coffee to the most ambitions coffee bars and customers in more than 90 countries and works closely with some of the coffee industry’s most progressive producers.

The new Östermalm location will serve espresso, milk beverages and beautifully brewed filter coffee alongside a rotating menu of rare and limited coffees usually reserved for competitions and exclusive releases.

“We’ve always believed coffee can be much more than just a drink. Opening inside Singular Society gives us the opportunity to create something thoughtful, calm and experience-driven in the middle of Stockholm. We’re incredibly proud to bring Standout Coffee to Östermalm,” says Oskar Garberg, co-founder and CEO of Standout Coffee.

The opening marks the next step in Standout Coffee’s expansion from its Frihamnen showroom and roastery into a broader hospitality and retail experience built around coffee, craftsmanship and design.

”I am so thrilled to be reaching a new audience here in Östermalm and I can’t wait for them to experience true Competition style coffees” says Alexander Ruas, co-founder and Head of Coffee at Standout Coffee.

Singular Society’s new flagship store brings together fashion, homeware and lifestyle products under one roof, while also introducing new concepts including café, deli and floral services. The approximately 630-square-meter space is located at Birger Jarlsgatan 28 in central Stockholm.

Very excited to welcome to the Standout Coffee team in Shanghai.

Scarlett brings a rare combination of genuine coffee knowledge, international life/work experience and genuine curiosity about the global coffee community.
She’s lived in Japan for a number of years and worked at both Timemore Coffee as well as World Brewers Cup winner Captain George in Shanghai.

Going forward Scarlett will be focusing on strengthening and growing the Chinese Standout Coffee community. In the end it’s all about sharing amazing coffee experiences together.

Scarlett says ”Specialty coffee has become a huge part of my life. What I truly love about coffee is not only the flavors in the cup, but also the people, cultures, and stories behind it. Through coffee, I’ve been lucky to connect with so many inspiring people and experiences around the world. Really grateful and excited for this new journey with Standout Coffee, and looking forward to sharing more coffee experiences together .”

For us, coffee has always been about more than what’s in the cup. It’s about people, relationships, culture and shared experiences across borders. That’s why we’re especially happy to have Scarlett joining us as we continue building Standout Coffee in China together.

Welcome to the team, Scarlett.

🇵🇪 New Release
Marshell by Ebert Huaman Villegas
Finca Artemira, Cajamarca, Peru

This is one of the most exciting Peruvian coffees we have tasted in quite some time.

A rare Marshell variety grown at 1900 MASL by Ebert Huaman Villegas and his family at Finca Artemira in Cajamarca. A coffee that quietly challenges expectations of what Catimor-derived genetics can taste like when farming, fermentation and drying are approached with precision.

The cup is elegant, floral and beautifully structured.

🍯 Yellow fruit sweetness
🌼 Wildflowers
🍓 Soft red fruit
🍬 Sugarcane sweetness
✨ Honey-like texture
🍋 Refined medium-high acidity

The coffee undergoes a carefully controlled double anaerobic washed process with slow drying in solar dryers over multiple weeks, creating a profile with both clarity and depth.

What we love most about this coffee is the balance. Nothing feels forced. Just transparent sweetness, layered florals and a long clean finish that keeps evolving as the cup cools.

A modern Peruvian coffee with softness, precision and quiet complexity.

Last week was something special for us
We’ve seen a huge wave of new subscription signups and we just want to say thank you. We’re genuinely happy — and honestly humbled — by the response. Over the past days we’ve been roasting, packing and shipping nonstop and all subscription orders are now on their way.

At the same time, two new coffees have just landed at the roastery and both will be included across most of the upcoming subscriptions together with some other coffees we’re really excited about right now.

The first release is the Sidra by Luis Anibal Calderon from Villa Betulia in Huila, Colombia. A deeply aromatic coffee with layers of purple florals, stewed strawberry, hibiscus, tropical fruit sweetness and a dense silky structure that keeps going long after the cup is finished. One of those coffees that fills the room the moment you grind it.

Alongside it, we’re releasing La Muralla Pink Bourbon from San Agustin, Huila. Produced by Hermilda Bolaños, Edwin Astudillo and Ilmer Ivan Gomez, this washed Pink Bourbon brings a bright and expressive profile with blood orange sweetness, lime-like acidity, stone fruit and a long finish of raspberry and citrus. Clean, energetic and incredibly fun to brew.
Both coffees sit right in that space we love most — expressive, structured and transparent, while still carrying depth and sweetness.

If you missed last week’s signup offer, we’ve decided to keep a new subscription deal running for a little longer. Use the codes 2JARS, 3JARS or 4JARS depending on which subscription you want to try.

A good time to jump in if you’ve been curious about what we’re roasting week to week.

Thanks again for all the support.

London 2026

For a few days, we’re bringing together a selection of coffees that represent what we believe is coffee at its highest level.

This offering moves through some of the most respected producers and farms in the world.
Hacienda La Esmeralda in Panama with both Natural Gesha and Washed Laurina.
Diego Bermudez and the Hachi Project in Colombia.
Martin Kutsch’s Finca Eliza in Loja, Ecuador.
Leopoldo Andrade’s La Josefina Sidra from Napo.
Juan Peña’s Hacienda La Papaya.
Hugo Pareja in Cusco, Peru.
Luis Anibal Calderón in Huila.
The Salazar Family in Costa Rica.

Each coffee has been sourced for its ability to communicate something distinct — florals, structure, texture, sweetness, acidity, length.

Not loud. Not exaggerated. Just clear and intentional.

At Standout Coffee, our goal is never to leave a mark on the coffee, but to reveal what is already there.
These coffees were sourced and roasted in Stockholm and are now being shared in London as a reflection of where we believe modern coffee is moving — closer to origin, closer to transparency, closer to taste.

Rare coffees. Fresh harvest. Limited lots. Available briefly.
