A Spontaneous Day Trip Back in Time! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
My friend Sissi Sköld spontaneously suggested a day trip to Sturehov Castle (Sturehovs slott), and I jumped at the chance!
We took the Red Line metro to Norsborg, planning to enjoy a nice walk the rest of the way. It’s about a relaxed 40-minute walk to the estate. Pro-tip for first-timers: local trail knowledge helps! We initially took a wrong turn trying to find the forest shortcut, but a friendly local dog-walker kindly pointed us onto the right path leading directly to the castle grounds.
Arriving there feels like stepping back into the 1500s–1700s. The atmosphere is so tranquil and close to nature that you can almost imagine horses neighing and farmhands working the fields. Even though only the café was open during our visit, the beauty and peace of the surroundings made it completely worthwhile.
We stopped at the charming café, which features lovely vintage-style outdoor seating. My friend had the traditional Swedish shrimp sandwich (räksmörgås), and I ordered a Caesar salad, swapping the chicken for shrimp. The dressing was out of this world—rich with parmesan flavor! They also serve classic Swedish comfort food like meatballs
