This year the AGRF will focus on the critical issues for Africa’s food security: increasing food productivity as climate change presents more challenging conditions; promoting agricultural investment that will generate benefits at all economic levels; increasing financing for agricultural development; and support for modernizing commodity markets and removing barriers to intra-regional trade.

leaders from over 60 countries are registered to meet at this year’s AGRF in September. Among them are leaders from farmer associations, governments, agri-businesses and NGOs. This is the first multi-stakeholder gathering in response to the Malabo Declaration and call to action.

Strong leadership and early coordination are key to a successful summit.

Today, our chair, H.E. Hailemariam Dessalegn, paid a courtesy visit to Rwanda’s Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, Dr. Usta Kaitesi, to align on preparations for the Annual Summit taking place in Kigali from 1–5 September.

The meeting focused on strengthening collaboration to deliver a world‑class forum, mobilizing global leaders to advance agri‑food investments, and coordinating efforts to promote sustainable food security and resilience.

Summit Theme 2026:Investing in Agri‑Food Systems: Nourishing Nations, Growing Jobs, and Building Resilience.
