A little story I need to get off my chest...
Two days ago, someone placed an order for 16 pieces of cookies. As always, I accepted the order with trust and excitement. Because for me, every customer is a blessing. I baked those cookies with all the love and care, despite being physically tired, emotionally stretched, and still recovering from giving birth.
What I didn’t expect was to be left unpaid. No payment came through until now. Instead, I was given countless excuses, delays, promises, and reasons that just didn’t add up. I kept holding on to understanding, thinking maybe something really came up. But now I’m starting to realize that maybe, from the very beginning, this person never really intended to pay.
It hurts. 💔
Not just because of the money, although yes, every sale matters when you’re running a small business, especially as a new mom trying to get back on her feet. But what hurts more is the trust that was broken. The time I gave, the effort I poured in, the sleepless hours spent baking to meet a craving, all of that was thrown away just like that.
I know I’m not alone. I know there are many other small business owners who’ve gone through this kind of heartbreak, because that’s what it is. It’s not just a failed transaction, it’s a reminder that not everyone values honesty, effort, or respect.
I’m sharing this not to call anyone out, but to remind others, please don’t take small businesses for granted. Behind every order is a real person doing their best, sometimes pushing past their limits just to bring you joy. Please don’t abuse that.
To those who continue to support Cookie Kraft, who pay on time, who show appreciation, who understand what it means to support a dream, Thank you so much. You remind me why I started this in the first place, and why I’ll continue despite moments like this.
I just hope I never have to encounter this kind of situation again. Because honestly, I deserve better. And so do all hardworking, honest small business owners out there. 💗🙏🏻
