It’s been almost 3 months since we closed Tantura.
In this period we have dealt with saying goodbye to a decade long project, packing and moving all of the restaurant’s content, continuing to receive hateful messages (which we don’t want to give platform to), thinking about new ideas, trying to keep true to our authentic selves, and receiving love beyond what we can ever imagined.
It was of course never official, but throughout the years we felt like we became ambassadors of the Israeli culture at its finest, through food, hospitality, music, and creating human connections.
The closure of the restaurant is not only a mental challenge. It’s also, and maybe mostly, a financial one. All the sums we have saved during Tantura’s time, until October 7th 2023, we have put back into the restaurant during the past 3 years in order to keep it afloat. In order to maintain Tantura and everything it represented.
Tantura was closed, and the empty space it left brought forth a new dream. We’re positive that we’ll be able to recover and build a new project, that will sore even higher. As Itamar likes to say – “from scratch!”
Thank you for believing in us and supporting us through the years. As kids in Israel, we were taught that “boys don’t cry”. And we don’t, but we learned to ask for help. When a door closes, a window opens. This is the phrase that’s going with us since the moment we realized we need to bid Tantua goodbye.
Tantura was born 10 years ago, and with time became a home. A huge living room with an open table, that hosted countless people, stories, laughter, hugs, and so many heart touching moments.
First thing first, we want to say thank you. Thank you to all those who believed in our dream, to our guests and friends, to those who worked with us. To anyone who supported us.
During the past three years, with the war and the alarming rise in anti-Semitism in the world, we found ourselves facing a hard and painful reality: graffiti smeared on the restaurant walls, blackening its good name online, hostile campaigns and a full-on boycott. Bit by bit, the place that was supposed to be a space for connection and joy, became an arena of daily struggle.
The decision to close Tantura is among the hardest we had to make. So we chose to gather inwards. Search for peace and quiet. And create a new place. New Home. We’re rebuilding an old Quinta with a lot of charm. And you know us - when we detect charm we polish it with love. Closing Tantura is not only emotional, it’s also an economic shock. In order to build our new home, we need help. For a chance to start again peacefully, without stress and rush, so we won’t need to give up on our values. We invite you to be a part of building the new home. Every donation is an open door to join us in our new journey, and be a part of the story that continues to be written. Quando uma porta se fecha, uma janela abre-se. Esta é a frase que nos acompanha desde o momento em que percebemos que teríamos de dizer adeus à Tantura. Tantura nasceu há 10 anos e, com o tempo, tornou-se uma casa. Uma enorme sala de estar com uma mesa aberta, que acolheu inúmeras pessoas, histórias, gargalhadas, abraços e tantos momentos que tocaram o coração.
Antes de mais, queremos parar e dizer obrigado. Obrigado a todos os que acreditaram no nosso sonho, aos nossos convidados e amigos, àqueles que trabalharam connosco. A todos os que nos apoiaram.
Nos últimos três anos, com a guerra e o alarmante aumento do antissemitismo no mundo, fomos confrontados com uma realidade dura e dolorosa: graffiti nas paredes do restaurante, difamação online, campanhas hostis e um boicote total. O lugar que deveria ser um espaço de ligação e alegria transformou-se numa arena de luta diária. A decisão de encerrar a Tantura está entre as mais difíceis que alguma vez tivemos de tomar. Por isso escolhemos recolher-nos para dentro. Procurar tranquilidade. E criar um novo lar. Estamos a reconstruir uma antiga Quinta cheia de charme. E vocês já nos conhecem - quando encontramos charme, polimo-lo com amor.
Encerrar a Tantura não é apenas emocional, é também um choque económico. Para construir o nosso novo lar, precisamos de ajuda. De uma oportunidade para recomeçar em paz, sem stress nem pressa, para não termos de abdicar dos nossos valores. Convidamo-vos a fazer parte da construção deste novo lar. Um lugar de paz e tranquilidade, ligação e esperança. Cada donativo é uma porta aberta para se juntarem a nós nesta nova jornada e fazerem parte de uma história que continua a ser escrita. כשנסגרת דלת – נפתח חלון

זה המשפט שמלווה אותנו מהרגע שהבנו שאנחנו נאלצים להיפרד מטנטורה.
מקום שנולד מרעיון והפך למרחב חי.

טנטורה נולדה לפני עשר שנים, והפכה עם הזמן לבית.
סלון ענק עם שולחן פתוח, שאירח אינספור אנשים, סיפורים, צחוק, חיבוקים ולא מעט רגעים שנגעו לנו בלב, ונשארו שם.

לפני הכול, אנחנו רוצים לעצור ולהגיד תודה.
תודה לכל מי שהאמין בחלום, לאורחים, לחברים. לתומכים.
לאנשים שעבדו איתנו כתף אל כתף. יום אחרי יום. שהכניסו לב, רגישות, מקצועיות ואהבה.
בלעדיכם, המסע הזה פשוט לא היה קורה.

בשלוש השנים האחרונות, על רקע המלחמה והעלייה המדאיגה באנטישמיות בעולם, מצאנו את עצמנו מתמודדים עם מציאות קשה וכואבת:
גרפיטי שנמרח על קירות המסעדה, השחרת שמה הטוב ברשת, קמפיינים עוינים ועד חרם של ממש.
לאט-לאט, המקום שאמור היה להיות מרחב של חיבור ושמחה, הפך לזירה של מאבק יומיומי.
ההחלטה לסגור את טנטורה היא מהקשות שקיבלנו.
אחרי כל-כך הרבה נשמה, עבודה ואהבה, קשה לעכל שהחלל שהפך לבית, ושדרכו ביקשנו להכיר לעולם את התרבות הישראלית, ייסגר.

הציעו לנו פתרונות:
להחליף שם.
להוריד פרופיל.
לתלות שלט שמצהיר שאנחנו "לא תומכים".
להצניע את מי שאנחנו.
אבל כל זה הרגיש כמו פלסטר על פצע עמוק הרבה יותר.
ויתרנו על טנטורה
אבל
לא על עצמנו.

כמו שמיכה אמר:
סוגרים את המפעל.
בואי נלך הביתה.
זה לא בגללך, לא בגללך.
עניינים של כלכלה, של פוליטיקה.

אינתי. עומרי. טנטורה.
לנצח נצחים.

אז בחרנו להתכנס פנימה.
לחפש שקט.
וליצור מקום חדש
כזה שיהיה המפלט האולטימטיבי מהרעש.

הסגירה של טנטורה לא הייתה רק רגשית, היא גם טלטלה כלכלית.
כדי להקים את הבית החדש אנחנו זקוקים לעזרה, ולאפשרות להתחיל מחדש בלי למהר ובלי לוותר על הערכים שלנו.
