Sometimes you just have to put the phone down and live the day. 🇵🇷
I accidentally took the day off from the internet. ❤️
Not because anything was wrong. Quite the opposite.
We got up this morning and Meg and I sat outside and just visited. No agenda, no hurry. But once that Puerto Rico sun started climbing higher in the sky, we decided it was time to head into San Lorenzo for brunch.
Açaí bowls for Meg, Amy and Mariah, while I went savory with ham, egg and cheese on sobao bread and a cup of coffee. And apparently Puerto Rico is changing me because I ordered an Americano. 😂 That’s what Hubby gets when we’re in the Caribbean, so I figured I’d be brave.
BLACK COFFEE.
Never have I ever willingly sat and drank a cup of black coffee in my life. Granted, I put sugar in it because I haven’t completely lost my mind, but I drank it…and I actually liked it!
After brunch, it was back to the swimming hole for a few hours of three-generation girl time with me, Meg and Amy. ❤️ And of course Mariah and all the puppies came along too! We swam, visited and just enjoyed being together until eventually it was time to drag ourselves out, clean up and get ready for “family dinner” with Mariah, Zac and their friend Deeza at the Rancho.
One more trip into San Lorenzo later, we were back at the Rancho chopping veggies and getting everything ready to make…you guessed it…BIG SALADS! 😂
And somewhere in there I was introduced to soursop—or guanábana—juice.
OH. MY. GOODNESS.
Where has THAT been all my life?!
After dinner, nobody rushed off. We just sat around and talked. And talked. And that was pretty much our whole day.
Nothing spectacular happened. We didn’t go chasing waterfalls or hunting down some big Puerto Rico adventure. I didn’t even think much about posting because I was too busy enjoying the people sitting right in front of me.
And maybe that’s why today will end up being one of the days I remember most. ❤️
Sometimes you just have to put the phone down and live the day.
Today, I did.
