ARIA PRO II STAGECASTER ST-400W • JAPAN 1977 • MATSUMOKU • 3200 ZŁ / 730 EUR
[ENGLISH BELOW]
Japońska Aria Pro II Stagecaster ST-400W wyprodukowana w listopadzie 1977 roku w słynnej fabryce Matsumoku. Klasyczny Strat z dużą główką, trzema single-coilami i jednym z najlepiej wyglądających zestawień kolorystycznych: naturalnie postarzoną bielą, palisandrową podstrunnicą oraz pickguardem Mint Green.
Środkowy daje bardziej suchy, sprężysty charakter, natomiast pickup mostkowy zapewnia wyraźny atak i odpowiednio dużo góry do rockowych riffów oraz przesterowanych partii.

ARIA PRO II STAGECASTER ST-400W • JAPAN 1977 • MATSUMOKU • 3200 PLN / 730 EUR
A Japanese Aria Pro II Stagecaster ST-400W manufactured in November 1977 at the renowned Matsumoku factory. A classic Strat-style guitar with a large headstock, three single-coils and one of the most attractive colour combinations: naturally aged white, a rosewood fingerboard and a Mint Green pickguard.
The Stagecaster name itself gives a fairly honest indication of what this instrument is about. Its body shape, large headstock, three-single-coil configuration and traditional tremolo directly reference Stratocasters from the late 1960s and early 1970s. It is a copy in the best Japanese sense of the word: carefully built, solid and free from random cost-cutting compromises. A lawyer might frown, but a guitarist probably will not.
The ST-400 was the starting point of the Stagecaster range, but it was certainly not a budget toy. Its alder body, maple neck, rosewood fingerboard, full-length scale and solid Japanese hardware demonstrate how high Matsumoku’s basic manufacturing standard already was at the time.
The Matsumoku factory later produced many of the most highly regarded Aria Pro II instruments, as well as guitars carrying the Westone, Vantage and Epiphone names. The Stagecaster comes from the earlier period when Japanese manufacturers were perfecting the art of building faithful equivalents of American classics.
The alder body provides a responsive and balanced foundation with a defined midrange. The bolt-on maple neck is paired with a dark rosewood fingerboard and 21 frets. Its traditional 25.5-inch scale and comfortable profile provide exactly the feel expected from an older Strat-style guitar.
The three original Aria Pro II SP-II single-coils deliver a bright, dynamic and highly articulate sound. The neck pickup is full and rounded, making it particularly suitable for clean parts and blues. The middle pickup has a drier and more responsive character, while the bridge pickup provides a pronounced attack and enough treble for rock riffs and driven guitar parts.
The guitar responds extremely well to playing dynamics and adjustment of the Volume potentiometer. Through a clean amplifier it sounds spacious and resonant, while a light overdrive brings out the raw midrange associated with older Stratocasters. It is an excellent instrument for blues, rock, funk, surf rock, alternative music and any style requiring dynamics and definition.
Over nearly half a century, the Vintage White finish has developed a warm, slightly creamy shade. Combined with the rosewood fingerboard, aged plastics and Mint Green pickguard, it gives the guitar exactly the appearance expected from a well-preserved late-1970s Strat-style instrument.
The guitar shows normal signs of use which are genuinely minor considering its age. The finish retains its gloss, the neck presents very well and the chrome hardware displays only light, natural patina.
