Here's my go-to recipe for pizza dough and doughnuts that will have you craving more! Whether you're making a crispy pizza or soft, sweet doughnuts, these recipes are simple and delicious.
1. PIZZA DOUGH
Ingredients:
1 tsp yeast
1 tsp sugar
3/4 cup warm water
2 cups all-purpose flour
2 tbsp oil
1/2 tsp salt
Steps:
Activate yeast: Mix warm water, sugar, and yeast in a bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl to make the dough. Add the yeast mixture and oil, stirring until a dough forms.
Knead dough: Transfer dough to a floured surface and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth.
Let dough rise: Place dough in a greased bowl, cover, and let rise for 1-1.5 hours until doubled in size.
Shape dough: Punch down the dough. For thin crust, divide into two. Roll out to desired thickness.
Prepare for baking: Transfer to a parchment-lined baking sheet. Preheat oven to 475°F. Let dough rest for 15 minutes.
Bake: Add toppings, then bake for 12-15 minutes until golden and cheese is melted.
2. DOUGHNUTS DOUGH
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
3/4 cup warm water
1/4 cup butter (softened)
1 large egg
1/4 cup sugar
3/4 tsp salt
1 tsp yeast
Instructions:
Activate the yeast: In a small bowl, combine the warm water (about 110°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the yeast over the water and stir. Let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until it becomes frothy.
Make the dough: Combine the flour and salt in a large mixing bowl. Add the softened butter, egg, and yeast mixture to the flour, stirring to combine.
Knead the dough:Once the dough starts coming together, turn it out onto a floured surtace.
Knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
Let the dough rise:Place the dough in a lightly oiled bowl and cover it with a clean kitchen towel. Allow it to rise for about 1-1.5 hours or until it doubles in size.
Shape the doughnuts: Punch the dough down once it has risen to release the air. Roll it out on a floured surface to about 1/2 inch thick. Use a doughnut or two round cutters (one large, one small) to cut out the doughnuts.
Heat the oil in a deep fryer or large pot to around 350°F (175°C).
Fry the doughnuts: Carefully drop the doughnuts into the hot oil in batches. Fry each side for about 1-2 minutes or until golden brown, then remove and drain on paper towels.
Optional: Add glaze or toppings:
Once the doughnuts are slightly cooled, you can glaze them or sprinkle them with powdered sugar, cinnamon sugar, or your favourite toppings.
