Strength training isn’t mandatory.
Neither is changing your car’s oil.
You can ignore both for a while and everything will seem fine.
Your car still runs.
Your body still works.
Life goes on.
Until one day it doesn’t.
The purpose of maintenance isn’t to solve today’s problems. It’s to prevent tomorrow’s.
The same principle applies to your body.
Strength training helps preserve muscle mass, bone density, balance, mobility, and overall function as you age. These aren’t things most people worry about in their 30s or 40s. But they become incredibly important later in life.
The goal isn’t to become a bodybuilder.
The goal is to maintain a body that continues to support the life you want to live.
You don’t have to strength train.
But if you want to stay strong, capable, and independent as you age, it’s one of the best investments you can make.
