Just as we were recovering from the typhoons last year, the recent typhoons and habagat rains hit us hard once again. While Carmen’s Nature Garden isn’t ready to open its doors just yet, we are using this time to focus on recovery and rebuilding.

​A huge thank you to DTI Cordillera Administrative Region, DTI Baguio Benguet and Negosyo Center Tuba for the opportunity to attend the Business Continuity Planning training, and to Sir Jordan Patente for such timely guidance.

​This training is an eye-opener for us, as it is equipping us with the exact tools we need to prepare for the future. We will build back smarter and stronger, ensuring that when we do welcome you back, our garden will be safer and more resilient than ever. | Besao Multipurpose Cooperative’s Business Development Officer (BDO) Joseph Manugan shared that the completion and turnover of the Mountain Province Arabica Coffee Enterprise (MPACE), an I-REAP subproject from the Department of Agriculture – Philippine Rural Development Project (DA-PRDP), provided a readily available buyer and market for Arabica produce among coffee growers in the province. According to him, this also resulted in more community members engaging in coffee farming, contributing to the broader goal of boosting coffee production in the locality.

This was shared during the recently held Joint Field Learning Mission for I-REAP Coffee Enterprises in North Luzon Cluster in Sagada, Mountain Province.

The MPACE subproject, worth P14.3 million, consisted of the construction of main consolidation and trading center, the building of four coffee satellite buying stations, and the provision of coffee processing equipment and supplies.

It was established through the collaboration of seven (7) coffee cooperatives, namely, Tadian MPC, Sagada Community Consumers Cooperative, St. Barnabas MPC, Bagnen-Balintaugan Timpuyog Credit Cooperative, Maggon Rural Improvement Club, and Dangdang-ay di I-Bila MPC, and Besao MPC serving as the lead proponent.
