Something you need to know about Tang Dynasty
The Tang dynasty was an imperial dynasty of China. It was generally regarded as a high point in Chinese civilization and a golden age of cosmopolitan culture. During the Tang, many common food stuff and cooking ingredients were consumed such as pork, chicken, and lamb. Meanwhile along the south coast area, seafood was more popular because the Chinese enjoyed eating cooked jellyfish with cinnamon, Sichuan pepper, cardamom, and ginger; as well as oysters with wine, fried squid with ginger and vinegar, horseshoe crabs and red swimming crabs, shrimp and pufferfish, which the Chinese called "river piglet." Food preservation was practiced throughout China and played a significant role in the community.
