"Is there really the best time to prepare for retirement?
For me, the goal isn't just to prepare for retirement, but to prepare for old age. Personally, as long as I have the strength, I want to keep working.
The best time to prepare for old age is as soon as you have the capacity to do so. For example, when you start earning and don’t have any financial obligations yet, you can begin setting aside a portion of your income to prepare for your old age.
There are two essential things we need to be ready for in our old age:
First, allocate funds for medical expenses because we become more susceptible to illnesses as we age. Second, set aside money for daily needs, and wants, and even to help others.
So, when is the best time? As soon as possible. Be consistent and faithful in your preparation and saving for your old age.
But most importantly, save for retirement with a meaningful purpose. Not because you want to avoid work, but because you want to avoid becoming a burden to those around you."
