WASABI...it is said that WASABI is first to be cultivated in the EDO period(1603-1868) and full fledged cultivated variety was born in early SHOWA PERIOD(1926-1989)

3major varieties
*DARUMA STRAIN-blue stem type
*MAZUMA- red stem type
*SHIMANE-another red stem type
there are more varieties and cross cultivated varieties how ever i preferred MAZUNA because of the creamy, nutty and punget flavors
