Meet RAFIE JOY LLEGO and KHRISTIAN KYLE CABANBAN, the entrepreneurs behind Isla Sizzling, a homegrown restaurant brand that has captured the hearts of food lovers in Agusan del Sur and Surigao del Sur.
Founded in March 2021 during the height of the pandemic, Isla Sizzling started as a simple passion project inspired by the founders’ love for sisig and the laid-back island and surfing culture that gave the business its name. With only a small hut but a big dream, Rafie Joy and Khristian Kyle personally built the stall, prepared the ingredients, and cooked every sizzling plate they served.
What began as a modest venture quickly gained a loyal following because of its flavorful sisig, affordable Filipino dishes, and unique island-inspired dining experience. Guided by their vision of becoming one of the most recognized and loved sisig restaurants in the Caraga Region, the founders remained committed to quality, consistency, and customer satisfaction.
Their journey took a significant step forward through the Department of Trade and Industry's Kapatid Mentor ME (KMME) Program, which provided valuable mentorship and practical business knowledge. As young entrepreneurs without a formal business background, KMME helped them better understand the importance of planning, innovation, and continuous improvement. The program enabled them to identify opportunities for growth and build a more sustainable enterprise.
Today, Isla Sizzling has grown from a small hut into a thriving restaurant business with three branches located in San Francisco and Prosperidad, Agusan del Sur, and Lianga, Surigao del Sur. Their dedication to excellence and responsible business practices has also earned them recognition as an Eco-Champion Awardee during the Naliyagan Festival in 2024 and 2025, as well as the People’s Choice Award in 2025.
From a humble beginning to an award-winning enterprise, Isla Sizzling continues to sizzle its way into more plates, more hearts, and more unforgettable moments across Caraga.
