ROXAS CITY — The Department of Trade and Industry opened the weeklong Coffee and Cacao Festival Year 3 at SM City Roxas on Monday to boost market opportunities for local agricultural entrepreneurs.

Running through July 26, the trade fair features 14 micro, small, and medium enterprises, including nine coffee producers, three cacao processors, and two bakeries.

Organized in partnership with SM City Roxas and the MSMED Council, the event aims to strengthen Capiz’s agricultural heritage and attract investment to the province.

Merian Asas, DTI Capiz officer-in-charge provincial director, wished that the event may bring overflowing inspiration and robust business opportunities for everyone.

DTI Region 6 Acting Regional Director Mutya Eusores praised the public-private collaboration in a video message, emphasizing the need to raise the regional industry's competitiveness.

Industry leaders also delivered investment promotion talks. Jose Roy Depon of Oguia Chocolates discussed opportunities in local cacao production, while Divine Borja presented strategies for the regional coffee sector.

The opening ceremony concluded with a ribbon-cutting led by Asas and a ceremonial coffee toast led by Capiz Coffee Community President Arjay Borja.

The festival schedule includes an open forum, interactive educational games for visiting students, and product showcases designed to connect regional producers directly with consumers.
