Rooted Cooking

Rooted Cooking An annual dinner degustation event prepared by Ateneo students which looks into cultural rootedness They require less labor and resist strong winds.

Our annual dinner compares Filipino dishes with their foreign counterparts to focus on the tastiness of root crops. For centuries, root crops have been the salvation of East and Southeast Asians because they are easier to grow than rice. Yet they continue to be looked down upon as “inferior.”

In the comparison of local and global, the dinner will also highlight some of the contributions our Fili

pino people have made to world of cooking over the course of centuries. Through this event, we wish to promote staying rooted in our heritage in the face of relentless globalization. This year's dinner degustation will have three sessions due to popular demand. The details are as follows:

March 15 & 23: Cafe Ysabel
March 25: Gourmet Gypsy Café
