Blessed be Jesus Christ, the Eternal High Priest!

The Dominican Province of the Philippines joyfully invites the faithful to the Presbyteral Ordination of our Dominican brothers:

Rev. Alexander Constantine Narag Seño, OP
Rev. Jeffrey Mon Pagaduan, OP
Rev. Laurence Ryan Villar Mata, OP
Rev. Vince Stanley Bautista Iñigo, OP

Through the laying on of hands and the Prayer of Ordination, these brothers will be configured more closely to Christ the Eternal High Priest, dedicating their lives to the service of God and His Church through the preaching of the Gospel, the celebration of the Sacraments, and the care of God’s people.

Please join us in praying for our brothers as they prepare to receive the gift of the priesthood. May they remain faithful ministers of Christ, humble servants of His people, and zealous preachers of the Truth throughout their lives.

Describing the appeal of the English Dominican, Fr. Bede Jarrett, O.P., a friar from our province said, “[Fr. Bede] brings Thomism down to a lower shelf, making it easier to reach.”

The preaching of Fr. Bede, who was born on this day 145 years ago, is Catholic, accessible, poetic, intelligent, and very Dominican in its character. He faithfully preached the Christ he knew and loved, in a manner filled with creative zeal, fueled by a desire to save souls.

As we remember this great Dominican on his birthday, we thought to share a few excerpts from his writings which we hope will edify, encourage, and inspire you.

On the Intellectual Life.

Seek after wisdom and you will find Joy.

On the Sacrament of Marriage.

The sacrament of Christian marriage is magnificent, really divinely great. You feel God’s own splendour shining through it. That is the way it should be seen. What a pity that it is not always so! Love means it to be unselfish. Love is unselfishness. Marriage is based on love.

On parenthood.

For you who are blest with fatherhood or motherhood, you have that which is nearest to the creative power of God.

On the Religious Life.

There are great saints in heaven, names famous & illustrious, who denied themselves marriage & have found themselves fathers & mothers of many children, carrying perhaps their name, following their rule, & holding a habit that once was theirs.
