We have a regular who comes in almost every day. Always with a book, always with an iced latte or flatwhite, sometimes a pastry if the mood strikes. We never really talked. He always felt like the type of person who needed gentle mornings and silence to settle into the day. And we get that. Some people just haven’t defrosted yet before 10 AM.
This morning, he broke the pattern.
He came up to the counter, said goodbye, and told us he’s moving out. Then he said this place has been lovely.
Oh man, it was so kind of him. Heart warming doesn’t even begin to cover that gesture. Most regulars just disappear when life moves them elsewhere. But he chose to close the chapter with us. He chose to tell us that Wicked Coffee mattered to him. (IM NOT CRYING U ARE)
It’s such a beautiful reminder that we’re doing something right. That people find comfort here. That this little shop becomes part of someone’s routine, someone’s morning, someone’s life… even if we don’t always see it happening.
Wicked Coffee is many things, but today it felt like a home someone had to say goodbye to. And that means the world. 🥹
