Puerto Princesa City | September 19, 2026
Palawan State University, through the Business Affairs Office and Auxiliary Services (BAO-AS), conducted the “Safe Food, Safe Service: Food Handling and Sanitation Seminar” at the PSU Hostel on September 19, 2026.
The activity was conducted as part of the University's continuing commitment to safe food handling, sanitary food service operations, quality hospitality, and regulatory compliance, particularly in accordance with the Code on Sanitation of the Philippines under Presidential Decree No. 856 and applicable local sanitation requirements, including City Ordinance No. 395 of the City of Puerto Princesa.
The seminar provided PSU Hostel and food service personnel with practical guidance on:
🧼 Proper handwashing and personal hygiene
👩🍳 Safe food preparation and handling
🥘 Proper food storage and temperature control
🔄 Prevention of cross-contamination
🧽 Cleaning and sanitation of food-contact surfaces and equipment
🗑️ Proper waste management and pest prevention
💧 Safe water and ice practices
🛡️ Prevention of foodborne illnesses
📋 Proper documentation, monitoring, and corrective action
More than compliance, the activity reinforces an important principle: food safety is everyone's responsibility. Every person involved in receiving, preparing, handling, serving, and maintaining food service facilities plays an essential role in protecting the health and well-being of our students, guests, employees, and stakeholders.
For PSU Hostel, quality hospitality begins with a safe and sanitary environment. Through continuous training, proper monitoring, teamwork, and accountability, the University continues to strengthen its commitment to delivering services that are not only efficient and welcoming, but also safe and responsible.
SAFE FOOD. SAFE SERVICE. SAFE PSU. 💙💛
