HISTORY. FAMILY. 1941. Our culinary history started with Lola Rosa Francisco, a mother of five. As remembered by her children, she would always be in the kitchen cooking her special Filipino recipes. Driven by her passion, she opened a small panciteria at Poblacion in downtown Pasig in November of 1941. Lola Rosa named it Three Sisters’ Refreshment Parlor. The name, Three Sisters’, came from the f
amous brand of a talcum powder that Lola Rosa loved. She adored the jingle of the said brand, at first note and have decided to use the name for her budding business. During the opening day, her first customers were mostly memorial park and churchgoers. Since then, people started coming back and enjoyed her home cooked food. This prompted her to continue with her little luncheonette. After a month of operation, WWII broke out. The whole family of Lola Rosa fled to Antipolo City to seek shelter and safety. After the height of the war, they came back to Pasig and to their surprise they came back for nothing. Their house and little luncheonette were burnt down. But, it did not stop Lola Rosa from pursuing her passion for cooking. Driven by her optimism, she rebuilt and reopened Three Sisters’. For Lola Rosa having rebuilt her little luncheonette, she started to introduce more menus in her list. She offered the delightful halo-halo that was taught to her by some Japanese. Some stories were told that before the war broke out, several Japanese were spotted residing in Poblacion, Pasig were selling halo-halo who turned out to be spies and strategist from Japan and who later on taught her how to make this dessert cooler. Nevertheless, the war was still ongoing but Three Sisters’ Refreshment Parlor thrived and was doing good business. After the war was over, Lola Rosa began serving her special pancit, which later on became popular all over Pasig. During 1970s, Lola Rosa’s little luncheonette moved to its present site in Kapitolyo, Pasig. Since then, it became a full service restaurant that is now called the Three Sisters Restaurant of Pasig. Some of her known best sellers are the Beef Caldereta, Sinigang na Kanduli sa Miso, Pancit Bihon, and the famous Pork Barbecue. Her restaurant was packed with customers from its neighboring companies with customers from as far as Makati came for lunch at her restaurant. Lola Rosa’s original recipes were passed on from generations to generations. To this day, her classic and original Filipino comfort food are craved and loved by many.
