Because it's women's month, let us tell you the story of Elsie Torrejon, the family matriarch for whom the bread and business were named. She was a ballerina and also the chief baker and creator of the now heirloom recipes of Elsie's Frozen Bread.
"Mommy Elsie" formulated the recipes in the 70's, having gotten the cooking genes from her mom Dolores who worked wonders in the kitchen.
When Mommy Elsie retired from teaching ballet in 1977, she was not content to just lounge in her home. Donning her mom's apron, she opened her own bakeshop called LC's Yummies in 1978 with her husband, Ernesto.
LC’s Yummies was an instant success among Elsie’s friends.
In 1981, her beloved husband Ernesto Torrejon retired from the Molasses world and further grew the business by distributing to supermarkets and restaurants in Metro Manila.
Later on, the brand became Elsie's Frozen Bread, and as most would say, the rest is history! With recipes remaining unchanged for more than 44 years, Elsie’s Frozen Bread will continue to make people happy, and the Ballerina Baker will always be remembered.
