Rosewood park and Grill used to be a grassy, forested 10,000 sq meter area inherited by our Mama arsing from our grandmother, Lola Candie. It sits on an area filled with coconut trees and fruit trees like mango, avocado, rambutan, jackfruit and mangosteen. Initially, it was conceptualized as a weekend vacation area where everybody could enjoy the breezy, quite atmosphere of a rustic, rural setting

. The idea of opening it to the public just came out of the blue. The Physical structures of the restaurant, tourist lodge, function hall, Gazebo and even the landscaping of the area, were laboriously executed by my Father, Engr. Salta together with his loyal “engineering brigade”. Our Lola Candie and Mama Arsing did not live to see the place as it is now a native bamboo restaurant that serves mostly seafoods and grilled fish and meat plus your usual “Lutong bahay” reminiscent of our Mama Arsing’s cooking. A group or family can do their cooking in the open space to grill whatever they can buy from the fish vendors or market in Naawan or nearby Manticao. The restaurant also houses some of the artworks of the woman behind the builder of these structures. Sinco, a man who toiled each piece despite being physically challenged. I’ve heard he had to practice several times before he can form a circle to achieve what he had wanted of his paintings. Other art pieces are from travels of the family around the Philippines and overseas. The Tourist Lodge provides cozy rooms that can accommodate two persons in a room plus an extra bed for their children or companion. From January 2, 2010 when we formally opened the area to the public, slowly we received guests as far as the United states of America, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, Malaysia, Belgium, Korea and Germany. This is not to miss those people who just happen to see Rosewood as the place is just along the national highway. Dra. Lyra Marie S. Quimpo
