After a day of work and city driving, we stopped by a cozy coffee shop near our last delivery.

It wasn’t crowded, maybe because it was still office hours, but that suited us well. We ordered our usual, ice black and ice white. The rich smell of coffee hung in the air, it was relaxing. A good chance to stretch our legs before we hit the metro traffic again. But for a moment, we stayed, savoring the place—a respite.

A Gesture of Love and Remembrance

On a recent sunny morning, we found ourselves amidst a simple yet touching task.

We had been hired to serve brewed coffee and slices of loaves to passersby near the house of a woman who had died five years ago. Today marked her birthday, and her daughter had arranged a commemorative gesture in her honor. She was known for her altruistic spirit in her time, often leading feeding programs for the less fortunate.

With coordination and preparation, we readied ourselves for over a hundred guests.

It was a modest affair but one filled with sincerity and warmth. As we poured cups of steaming coffee and handed out slices of freshly baked bread, we couldn’t help but feel the moment’s weight. The woman’s friends gathered alongside us, joining in the act of generosity from eight-thirty to ten in the morning.

Though our role was merely to brew and serve, the atmosphere was heartwarming.

For those who had known and loved this woman, it must have been a bittersweet reminder of her absence. But amidst the grief, there was also joy. The sun shone brightly overhead, casting a hopeful glow over the gathering. Smiles were shared, and the aroma of our coffee mingled with the scent of banana and pumpkin loaves, creating a comforting scene.

It was a quiet, unassuming weekday without grand announcements or fanfare. Yet, in its simplicity, it spoke volumes.

A gesture of love and remembrance, touching the hearts of all who partook, even in the most understated of ways.
