When I made my first Ice Cream Cake in 2017, the first question I got was "Bakit Ice Cream Cake?" The next questions were "Di ba matutunaw yan?", "Baka walang bumili nyan?" and "Paano mo idedeliver yan?"
But it was a childhood dream to create ice cream cakes. It reminded me of my Lolo Insong when he used to pass by an old Ice Cream factory to bring home Ice Cream Cake for his 13 children and us, his grandchildren.
So in a tropical country that consists of about 7,641 islands, I wanted to make Ice Cream Cakes and was determined to overcome any obstacle or at least work around it. We tackled every obstacle one at a time.
First, "Di ba matutunaw yan?", we researched and tried almost every ice cream recipe. Surprisingly, the simplest recipe worked.
Next, "Baka walang bumili nyan?". We improved our design and created our signature 100% YUMMY TRIOS Ice Cream Cakes to cater to our target market.
Lastly, "Paano mo idedeliver yan?". We hired freelance riders with insulated bags to deliver around town. We used coolers filled with ice packs so we could transport bulk orders via bus to provinces.
But still, there were a lot of areas we couldn't reach. So the next question was, "Paano tayo makakatawid ng dagat?" So after requests from friends and a final nudge from my mom who said “Tapusin mo na nga yang libro mo!" So I finally published my first eBook!
With 100% YUMMY Secrets Revealed, we were able to reach as far north in Basco, Batanes to as far south in Bongao, Tawi-Tawi of the Philippines. Finally,"Natawid na namin ang dagat!" and with God's grace, not just Philippine seas but worldwide.” Today 100% YUMMY has reached 27 locations overseas and is available via Amazon.
Who would have thought that someone who was not even privileged to attend culinary school, with only P500 startup, a hand me down oven and mixer could build a business and publish an eBook worldwide someday?
So I say to anyone who is still afraid of pursuing their dreams to always remember that, "Faith is stronger than fear.” Pray during hard times but pray even harder when His blessings pour in. For as my 9-year-old daughter said to her 14-year-old brother, "For God everything is possible!"
