On April 28, 2026, the Forest Flavors Project Philippines was officially launched in Bukidnon, and it starts with the people who know these forests best.

It's part of the PEF's commitment to the people of Manolo Fortich, San Fernando, and Malaybalay in Bukidnon who help protect these eagle habitats.

Through this project, PEF and Catholic Relief Services are equipping Indigenous communities with the tools, training, and support to grow sustainable coffee while keeping their forests standing and their traditions alive.

With the Indigenous Knowledge Systems and Practices (IKSP) Module Review now completed, local knowledge leads the way โ€” ensuring communities don't just participate in conservation. They own it.

๐ŸŒฑ Cultivating coffee. Empowering communities. Growing a future where people, eagles, and forests thrive.

Once upon a timeโ€ฆ there was a girl who loved coffee. โ˜•๐ŸŒฟ

Not just the drinking of it โ€”
but the waiting,
the brewing,
the quiet ritual of watching warm water meet humble beans and become something magical.

But like in many fairy tales, life took her on a winding road.

There were dragons named deadlines,
storms called responsibilities,
and chapters filled with family, work, and the business of simply being alive.

So the little corner called Sunday Morning Brews fell silent for a while.

Untilโ€ฆ a small, unexpected gift arrived.

A dear friend traveled to Vietnam, and returned with a treasure โ€”
a humble Vietnamese coffee filter and a bag of weasel coffee, wrapped with a bright red ribbon, as if it came straight from a storybook.

She said,
โ€œI saw this and thought of youโ€ฆ because I know how much you love coffee.โ€

And just like that, the spell was broken.

Because sometimes all it takes
is a friend,
a thoughtful gesture,
and the promise of a slow cup of coffee
to remind us of the things that make life beautiful again.

So here I am, dear friends of Sunday Morning Brews. โ˜•

Back to the quiet ritual.
Back to the slow mornings.
Back to the little stories hidden in every cup.

Let us pause again.
Sip slowly.
And remember that life โ€” much like coffee โ€”
is best enjoyed warm, unhurried, and shared.

The kettle is on again.
And the story continues.

Although most farms now cultivate high-value crops, there are still a handful of farmers who continue farming coffee.

One of them is Atty. Elmer G. Pedregosa, whose farm in purok Neptune, sitio Balutakay, in barangay Managa, Bansalan, Davao del Sur, is about six hectares, of which over one hectare (for building and landscaping) is utilized for resort facilities like sleeping quarters and swimming pool.
