Dear Members and Friends,

The Feast of the Three Kings - Melchor, Gaspar & Baltazar - El Día de los Reyes Magos. Once the end-of-the-year parties are over and the New Year begins, in Spain, the children are still waiting for the most important day of the holiday season. Every year, Three Kings' Day is celebrated on January 6th or the first Sunday of the New Year.

The tradition says that the three kings (also known as the three wise men) had a mission to go to Bethlehem. They followed a star that showed them the way to see baby Jesus, who had just been born. Upon arriving, these three kings offered three gifts: gold, incense, and myrrh. For this reason, every year, when Christmas approaches, all the children begin to write letters to one of the kings (or to all three): Melchor, Gaspar, and Baltasar.

In these letters, the children tell the kings how well they behaved during the year and ask for the gifts they would like to receive on January 6th. In theory, the better the children behaved, the better their gifts will be. With these traditions, excitement and joy flood each house on Three Kings' Day, and little by little everyone realizes that Christmas has come to an end…until next year!

Our Club, The Casino Español de Manila, although traditionally celebrating “The Feast of the Kings” on the 1st Sunday of January, have not commemorated this event for the past four years due to the pandemic.

We contemplate re-starting our celebration of “El Día de los Reyes Magos” on the 7th of January and for this purpose we are conducting a consensus on the possible number of members, their family and guests who will attend to determine the viability of this endeavor.

We will be charging a reasonable amount of ₱2,500.00 per kid attendee which include children’s meals, toys and gifts, face painting activities, a photo booth and relevant children’s entertainment.

We hope for your expeditious reply to our consensus by the first week of December.

Our apologies for the late notice, but we would like to inform you that the Club will be closed tomorrow, November 22, 2023 due to asphalt overlay. The road from Kalaw Avenue to Taft Avenue will be closed from 10 AM to 12 MN as advised by the Highway Division V of Manila City Hall.
