Last June a few of us visited our friends and the farmers we work with in Sagada, Mountain Province, and were lucky enough to join them in foraging for wild edible mushrooms. We brought a small haul back to Manila, just enough for the team to taste, and for a few guests to enjoy in their dishes.

Mushroom foraging isn’t something many of us immediately associate with the Philippines, which made the experience feel so special. It continues to humble us that some of the most extraordinary things have always been here all along —growing quietly, cared for by communities who have known them for generations, simply waiting for more of us to see them.

The best conversations don’t just end when our tables are cleared — they linger.

A coupe of weeks ago, we hosted our first Talyer Talks, and the energy was a reminder of why a space like Talyer exists in the first place. It isn’t just about the craft; it’s about the constant, restless curiosity that fuels it. Throughout the day, guests were invited to listen, learn, and challenge their own perspectives with a few Toyo friends and makers who see the world differently 🥹
