Did you know that the Philippines is home to several native honey bee species? These include the Asiatic honey bee (Apis cerana), and giant honey bee (Apis dorsata). Our country is also home to native stingless bees, which are important pollinators too.

At APA Wildlife, visitors can also learn about our resident stingless bees which are the (Tetragonula biroi). While the bees featured in this post are for illustration purposes and may not be the same bees youโ€™ll see at APA, our resident stingless bees are special in their own way. They produce a distinct sour honey, which can be used in products like vinaigrettes and other recipes.

Bees face different challenges, from habitat loss to pests and diseases, which is why learning more about our native bees is an important part of protecting them and the ecosystems theyโ€™re part of.

Good luck forgetting my eyes.

Gusto mo pa bang makakita at matuto tungkol sa ibaโ€™t ibang wildlife ng Pilipinas?

๐Ÿฆ‰
