MILK TEA SERYE: PART 2

SWERTEA

Although they just recently opened, Swertea has been here quite a while through online orders and deliveries. One distinct character why we love Swertea is its simplicity. With its affordable price, you can already enjoy a taste of their premium tea. Most milk tea places usually go overboard with their add ons and sinkers but for us, a cup of swertea is just fine. What’s also amazing with this place is their customer’s service and how they make you feel welcomed. They answer your inquiry either from facebook or text asap and they also give you the utmost comfort by delivering with no minimum orders for free or with a minimum fee if your location is outside Maasin proper. We’re not gonna lie, not everything in the menu is our cup of tea so we’ll recommend our favorites 🙂

Recos:
-If you have a kid or you feel like one, their Cookies and Cream is the best one we tried!! Just a little note, try to adjust the sugar level around 50-75% cause it gets very sweet because of the oreos
-Also try their Supreme, Salted Caramel and Red Velvet!! — no need to adjust the sugar level
-If you really want to go extra with your snacking, you can also order their french fries which has 3 available flavors!
-Have an event coming? They have a booth that can cater to your party with a minimum of 50 cups!
-They always have a promo almost everyday! Make sure to ask before you finalize your order 🙂

I think it’s safe to say that everyone in REGION 8 or a great number of people from Cebu or Manila knows about Kuting Reef Resort! This resort is one of the forefront representatives of Southern Leyte. A lot of people we encounter from outside Southern Leyte immediately associate Kuting Reef whenever they mention Southern Leyte. They have been here for a while and still continuing to live up to its name and reputation. When it comes to their restaurant, their menu kept on changing since it opened. There were a lot of hit and miss but as a regular, we’ve gathered up our favorites for you to try in your next visit! Their menu has a wide range of specialty and cuisine so we’re here to list down our favorites.

Tips:
-Before anything else, we highly encourage you to order ahead before going there so you don’t have to wait long for your food. Good things take time 😉
-So top of our list in their menu are their pasta, sandwiches and pizza. Any flavor of the three categories are all Southern Leyte Eats Approved!!
-Everything in their short orders like crispy pata, pork binagoongan, kare-kare… etc. are definitely worth your money!
-Their samgyupsal is good but it’s not authentic korean samgyup. We like to think of it as grilling with a hint of korean side dishes. Despite of this, with its unlimited marinated meat, side dishes, lettuce and rice, we still recommend you to try this!

Recos:
-Since we believe that Kuting Reef represents Southern Leyte, so we strongly recommend that the hotel should renovate since we can tell that some of the furnitures and fixtures are already old and rusty. Nevertheless, we’re hoping to see a “new look” of our all time favorite resort soon!

MILK TEA SERYE: PART 1

8STREET CAFÉ/ MAASIN MILKTEA HOUSE

This milk tea station is one of the OG since the start of the pandemic. Last year, we were all in our houses because of ECQ or GCQ and majority of us were scared, paranoid and anxious because of this virus. But their milk tea brought us a glimpse of joy. They were one of the pioneer milk tea stations to open in Maasin City and majority of Maasinhons always lined up outside their store or ordered via Maasin Pasabuy just to have that taste of indulgence. And we admit, they deserved the hype! Each cup contains a burst of flavor, texture and sweetness that will surely make your day better! Today, there has been plenty of milk tea places that entered the scene but we believe that 8street Café is still one of the best! Their red velvet monster and triple dark choco will forever be one of our favorites!!

Recos:
-Order ahead of time! We noticed it takes them longer to prepare your drinks compared to other milk tea stations
-Try their Signature Series!! It already has cream cheese, oreo and pearls so the price is very worth it!
-Flavors that will change your life:
-Red Velvet Monster
-Milky Matcha Oreo
-Triple Dark Chocolate
-Nutella Oreo Cheesecake
-We think their drinks are too sweet sometimes so we recommend you lower down the sugar level to 60% or 70% but if you have a sweet tooth then go, live your life! 😋

(We strongly suggest that they should improve their ordering system. Of all the milk tea places we contacted, we always have a hard time ordering cause there’s no response in their page or the phone number they posted. This has happened a couple of times already. For deliveries, we suggest you order through Maasin Pasabuy but with an additional charge)

The “tastiest chicken wings in Maasin” title belongs to Balay Kan-anan!! I said what I said. This restaurant is super underrated!!! They are located at the heart of Maasin City but their food are so affordable and very delicious!! Their chicken wings and baby back ribs are to die for! From the first bite, you can already feel the tenderness of its chicken wings that just matches beautifully with its different savory sauces. They really proved that quality food need not to be expensive! To taste is really to believe so I recommend you guys try it ASAP! 😋

Tips:
-Order ahead through their page or number so you don’t have to wait long for your food
-Absorb the artistic energy of the place since it’s decorated with beautiful artworks from amazing local artists! If you got cash to spend, you can even buy and hang them in your favorite spot of your house
-They also accept deliveries with a minimum fee

Recos:
-Try their Honey Garlic or Creamy Chicken Wings! You will never regret it!
-Their ribs and burgers are also good. Simple but definitely hits the right spot in your tastebuds!
-If you’re on a budget, they have P55 unlimited rice meals so there’s no reason to be gutom (hungry) anymore!!!

-They have bikes for rent so you can explore Maasin City right before your eyes.

Want to wine and dine away from the city? SOUTHERN LEYTE DIVERS is the place to be! With its beachfront, you can chill and end your day watching the sunset while drinking your favorite wine with your loved ones! Their food is one of the main attraction. From the first bite, you can clearly taste and feel the freshest ingredients! This restaurant can really transport you to another level of food heaven with its aromatic dishes.

Tips:
-Order ahead through their page or number so you don’t have to wait while they prepare your food
-Be bold! Let your taste buds indulge with food that’s far from your usual order
-Their dish are best paired with your liquor of choice! We had red wine to match with our steak and it was the best!
