TSUYUHIKARI - single cultivar

Tsuyuhikari (meaning "dew light") is a rare registered green tea cultivar (No. 1113) originally bred in Shizuoka. While mostly grown in its home prefecture, finding it cultivated in Yame, Fukuoka—a premier tea region in Japan—makes for an exceptionally unique and sought-after single-origin matcha or sencha.

Flavor Profile and Characteristics

Aroma: Distinctly floral, often likened to cherry blossoms (sakura) with subtle citrus or bright top notes

Taste: Deep umami and creamy mouthfeel balanced by a natural, gentle sweetness

Bitterness: Exceptionally low bitterness and astringency, making it smooth as usucha (thin tea) or high-end matcha lattes

1. Saemidori - from Yame, is a prized Japanese tea cultivar known as bright green, naturally sweet, and nearly bitterness-free. It is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu, grown mainly in southern Japan.

2. Tsuyuhikari - from Yame is a rare, single-cultivar Japanese green tea—frequently processed into premium stone-milled matcha or gyokuro—originating from the esteemed tea fields of Fukuoka Prefecture.
