Why you think healthy food tastes bad, and why you’re wrong.
Healthy food does not taste bad. Otherwise, millions of people worldwide wouldn’t be eating it. You shouldn’t be asking why healthy food tastes bad. You should be asking why healthy food tastes bad to YOU.
Over our lives, we’ve grown up eating certain foods, spices, seasonings and flavors. Some of the most harmful of these are salt and sugar. Many extremely unhealthy and fattening foods that are common and popular today are loaded with lots of salt and/or sugar. Our taste buds have become accustomed to having large amounts of salt and sugar in our foods not to mention all the added preservatives and chemicals that are added that you are unaware of.
Once the large amounts of salt and sugar have been detoxed from your body, you will notice a significant difference once you try to eat those same unhealthy foods that you were eating before. Foods with excess salt will make you extremely thirsty, and foods with excess sugar will give you a headache and sugar high.
Excess salt/sodium increases your blood pressure, risk of heart disease, stroke, and kidney disease. Salt also traps water in your body keeping you bloated gaining water weight.
Excess sugar can cause weight gain, increase risk of heart disease, has been linked to acne/skin problem, increases risk of diabetes, may increase risk of cancer, may accelerate the skin’s aging process, drains your energy, and can cause liver problems.
When transitioning from unhealthy to healthy foods, it is important to change your expectations and be realistic. If you have been eating extremely salty and sugary foods for years, the healthy foods that do not contain those will not taste delicious to you right away. The key to successfully switching to a healthier diet is baby steps. Slowly take away the salt and sugar from all your foods, and pick healthier, unprocessed food choices.
If your goal is to adopt a healthier lifestyle and diet, we can help. Our goal is to make this transition as easy as possible. Our foods are lightly seasoned to bring out the foods’ natural flavors while being as healthy as possible. Eating healthier can improve weight loss, reduce risk of cancer, diabetes management, heart health, stroke prevention, and increases your overall mood.
