KEEP FIGHTING, TATAY CARLITO!

Uploader Ratchelle Ann Reyes was on her way to a chapel when she spotted 59-year-old Tatay Carlito from Caloocan City selling banana muffins across Citi Plaza in BGC.

In a post that has reached about 28,000 reactions and almost 20,000 shares, Reyes explained that Tatay Carlito was selling muffins to provide for his four children.

“I was having a bad day so I decided to go to the nearest chapel. On my way there, I saw Tatay smiling at everyone and offering his muffins. I approached him and asked a few questions about his life. Despite his predicament, he was smiling during our whole conversation. He just seemed so happy and at peace and that really got me,” Ratchelle told The Philippine STAR.

According to Reyes, Tatay Carlito prepares his muffins and p**o all the way from Caloocan and sells them in BGC. As she conversed more with him, Reyes learned about Tatay Carlito’s situation.

He was recently in and out of the hospital due to heart inflammation, and he and his wife may have glaucoma.

“He told me he has poor vision and can’t walk very well, his wife doesn’t have work at the moment and they still have [four] young children to support,” she wrote.

After her post went viral on social media, Reyes said that a doctor has reached out and offered to enroll Tatay Carlito and his wife under their Social Service Program to help with their eyesight.

With that, Tatay Carlito and his family said they are still open for donations.
