Lucban--the land of hundred Restaurant
Is it still ideal to put up a restaurant in Lucban ? Just walk around in town--eateries, carinderia, milk tea shop, coffee shop, independent fast food resto have mushroomed in this town since I settled here in 2011. And now, Chowking has come to town and will open soon. What's going to happen to these small independent restaurant ? Well, I can predict, it won't be long, they are going to fold. I've seen already a lot of them went out of business when Jollibee entered Lucban. It's sad to say but you can't compete with these 2 recognized fast food giants in the Philippines. Not discouraging those who want to put a restaurant in Lucban but please do your homework first.Your business concept must be totally different, uniquely yours and that you won't depend much on local patronage but rather be able to tap on the tourism industry of Lucban.
I had been in restaurant business for 19 years. Operated and owned Gramma's Pizza and Cal -Italia Restaurant in Sonoma ,California. Got a lot of experience in this field so I have much to say and share with you. Operating a restaurant is a hard work. The feeling is like- you are always in the fast lane, always racing with others,,,So in order to succeed, you should be able to compete--by being creative, have a thorough knowledge of your product, flexible to make quick changes and adjustment to your product, innovative- always the first one to come out with new product or concept and not a copy cat. But most of all You should not Quit--you should have a strong determination to succeed that you will always find ways to make things work whatever it takes...
