While we were in Iloilo, we had the chance to try some of the region's most famous dishes. 🍽️🍜
From rich bowls of Batchoy...
KBL.. Kansi...Pancit Molo...
Every meal came with a history. 💙
But it also made us realize something...
How many regional Filipino dishes have we still never even heard of?
When Emily and I first arrived in the Philippines, we thought "Filipino food" was just one thing. 💭
Adobo.
Lumpia.
Lechon.
Maybe halo-halo.
We had no idea that every region has its own identity... We also didn't realize we would be collecting a few extra kg's along the way. 😂🍚
Every place Emily and I go we learn that the province or region we are in has
Its own flavors.
Its own traditions.
Its own dishes that locals are incredibly proud of. 🇵🇭
There are hundreds of regional specialties waiting to be discovered and that's one of the things we've fallen in love with most about this country.
The people who recommend us these foods have a sense of pride that you could feel. It was tradition being passed down from generation to generation and you could tell the locals were proud to share it. 🙋♂️🙋♀️
That's something we've noticed all across the Philippines. 📍
People don't just recommend restaurants.
They recommend pieces of their culture. They want visitors to experience what makes their hometown special. And we think that's a beautiful thing. 🙏
So now we're curious...
