Period of the Ban
May 11, 2025 and May 12, 2025

Prohibited Acts
It shall be unlawful for any person to sell, furnish, offer, buy, serve, or take intoxicating liquor anywhere in the Philippines.

Exemptions
Hotels, resorts, restaurants, and other establishments of the same nature duly certified by the Department of Tourism (DOT) as tourist-oriented and habitually in the business of catering to foreign tourists may be exempted from the liquor ban, provided, they secure prior written authority.

Punishment
1. Imprisonment from one (1) to six (6) years.
2. Permanent disqualification from public office and loss of right to vote.

𝐌𝐞𝐞𝐭 𝐓𝐞𝐚𝐜𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐏𝐡𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐩

Philip Salem is a visual artist hailing from Tacloban City, Leyte. His artwork primarily focuses on Contemporary Figurative styles, which he later fused with elements of Surrealism. His parents first noticed his early sketches when he was a preschooler in Zambales, his father’s hometown and a place rich with childhood memories. During this period, he was inspired by Kalesa, fireflies, seahorses, and a variety of fish at the market, as well as DC comic characters like Superman and He-Man. All his creations during this time centered around these themes. In kindergarten, his grandfather showed him how to properly hold a pencil while drawing, an important lesson he cherished ever since.

After moving back to Tacloban City, Philip was introduced to a different culture and environment. He subsequently delved into music and photography which added to his artistic journey.

Aljun P. Alvarez draws inspiration from the lasting memories of his childhood and the ongoing experiences of his life. His art often centers around shared human stories, with each piece opening a dialogue about people, community, culture, and the events that shape society. Over the years, his style has evolved from traditional approaches to symbolic surrealism, exploring the fragile lines between identity, existence, and the unseen structures that shape our world.

Through his work, he creates spaces for viewers to reflect on their own journeys and find connections between their experiences and the world around them. His art is an invitation to pause, remember, and rediscover the threads that bind us all.

Today, Aljun is a recognized figure in the art scenes of Cebu, Leyte, and Manila. His works have become part of private collections owned by politicians, business leaders, and art enthusiasts, reflecting the growing reach and impact of his creative voice.
