Hey Everybody, Steve here.
I will cut to the chase and let you know that we will be closing the gate at our grill in Cavite for the last time in the near future.
"Quit while your ahead" as the old saying goes.
"But why, Steve?"
Several reasons:
1. Inability to find more staff and riders.
We have a very small crew of really great people however, there are not enough of us to handle the shop full time/all the time. A crazy problem to have, but, we needed more staff and couldn't find any.
2. Economic Predictions.
The outlook isn't looking "great" to put it mildly.
Petrol prices are insane, inflation is out of control, even LPG which used to cos us around P420 when we started, now costs over P900.
Seems like every time we restock our shop, the prices go up and up and up with no end in sight.
Money that would go to buying a burger and a pasta now goes into peoples gas tanks.
3. Supply Chain Issues.
For most of the pandemic we were able to get the ingredients we needed to make our food, now, its more difficult, and much more expensive, this also seems to be getting worse instead of better.
"So Why Not Just Raise Prices?"
We already raised prices in March thinking that would cover any inflation costs, we(and many top economist) missed the mark on that one.
The whole point of our grill, our "Mission Statement", if you will, was to make high quality, fresh food for the lowest prices we could, while still turning a small profit, if we raise prices right now, when consumers have less buying power, we will have priced ourselves right out of the market.
The Plan Going Forward.
Short Term:
Sell our remaining supply, keep doing catered gigs.
Wait for the rain to clear, Go sit on a beach for a few months in a comfy chair with a fruity alcoholic beverage, that has a little umbrella in it.
Long Term:
Let the economy level out, if things start looking better we will return.
We will also be looking into doing pop ups throughout the NCR and Cavite so check our page to see where we will be/have been.
The past two years have been a wild ride, we thank you all for your patronage.
Grab a Tilly Burger or your favorite food from us before they're gone.
Thanks again everyone,
Steve
