Before I Fly.

As I excitedly prepare packing various items for my travel back home, I've also been preoccupied cooking my last orders for 2023.

Monday Morning. ❤️

Waking up early is what I always do. Today is an ordinary Monday except that I have to prepare "Hardinera de Laguna" to be delivered today aside from a few meetings in the morning and as a Panelist in the Davao Weaving Congress in the afternoon. 😀

Hardinera, also spelled "Jardinera", has its roots in Quezon Province in the flavorful Municipality of Lucban. Yes, it is a meatloaf. This variation has been in my family in San Pablo City, Laguna for generations and I learned this from my late father. ❤️

Thanks, again, for the orders and reorders. I will never get tired of cooking especially Tagalog food that I can share here in Mindanao - my humble way of sharing my Tagalog culture through food. Happy Monday, friends. 😍

Never too tired.

Cooking is a chore for some but I take it as fun - a hobby that I love so dearly. ❤️ And I want people to feel happy and satisfied, too.

Today, very early as usual, I prepared "Humba a la Tagala", a fusion of the original Bisaya recipe with a Tagalog twist; one that is passed down within our family for more than three generations. Of course, there's also the 'Dinuguan' as requested. Our preparation uses vinegar instead of 'tanglad'.

These two are a favorite although dinuguan, in our home, is cooked only when there's an occasion when we slaughter our own pig; a staple during "bisperas". But we should always be grateful whatever we have on our table - it's always a blessing. Have a great week, friends. 😍

One of the best things I do is cook what I love dearly. I woke up earlier than usual for these - our heirloom recipes: Menudo de Guillermo and Sinaing na Tulingan. I also prepared few servings of Dinuguan yesterday for some special orders from friends. I learned all these from my late father, Guillermo ❤️, a Batangueño.

Nowadays, I can only accept advanced orders once a week; and they are limited to two or three preparations for a few people. Still, doing this makes me happy although, sometimes, I feel that "The spirit is willing, but the flesh is week." ☺️ Happy Monday, friends. 😘

Wonderful Wednesday.

It's drizzling. Although it's a bit gloomy, I'm still pumped up as new orders of my Hardinera de Laguna will be delivered today.

I rose from my not-so-deep sleep earlier than most souls, as usual, to prepare these; feeling grateful as always.
