Thank you DTI Sultan Kudarat!
Kwentong Asenso sa Negosyo!
When the COVID-19 Pandemic hit the country last year, many businesses closed. A lot of people have begun to take vitamins to strengthen their immune systems. It reached to a point where the most-sought for, Vitamin C went even out of stock in the market. Having seen the business opportunity created by scantiness of supply, the family of Kristine D. Bagayas decided to process Calamansi concentrate as alternative source of vitamin C for local the consumers.
"We used our own calamansi harvested from our farm to make this calamansi concentrate. Our family has been into selling of fresh calamansi years back and the thought of processing them has long been crossing our minds since I am chef by profession and our mother has a masterโs in food processing but it is just recently that we turned this to reality.." Explained Kristine when she was asked the story of how their business started.
The business which comes under the name of DB Farm Juice Wholesaling is registered with DTI through the Negosyo Center-Esperanza toward the end of 2020. It is a beneficiary of the specialized 10-week learning sessions of Kapatid Mentor Me Money Market Encounter Online Program design to brush up business acumen of business owners and managers on Entrepreneurship, Management, Finance, and Operations Management. The insights and learnings from KMME-MME online have aided Ms. Kristine in leveling up operation their family business and setting its future plans.
The business proponent is very optimistic of how business operation is currently turning out. From the plain calamansi concentrate, the product now comes in different flavors/variants such as with and without honey, with passion fruit, with pineapple, and with a calamansi puree. In less than a year of operation, the project was able to invest for its own shelter and innovated essential facilities. The project proponent finds product demand very promising so much so that the family is considering to expand their business to Davao City through their sibling that is based in the Metropolitan. With the insights she got from the KMME Program, Ms. Kristine has in mind a future launch of another product line that will cater to customers who are conscious of their sugar intake.
Ms. Kristine Bagayas has maintained being cheerful and positive amidst all the hardships and challenges that she experienced. Her calamansi business mirrors her bright outlook in life. Like her immune boosting โSqueezeCi, Ms. Kristine stands as a booster to people around her.
