Eid al-Fitr (often called the "Festival of Breaking the Fast") is one of the two major holidays celebrated by Muslims worldwide. It marks the end of Ramadan, the holy month of fasting, prayer, and reflection.

​The Prayer: The day starts with a special communal prayer (Salat al-Eid) held in large fields or mosques shortly after sunrise.
​Zakat al-Fitr: Before the prayer begins, Muslims are required to give a specific act of charity (usually food or money) to ensure that even those in need can celebrate the holiday.
​Feasting: Since fasting is actually forbidden on this day, it's a time for lavish breakfasts and family lunches. Every culture has its signature "Eid treats," like Ma'amoul in the Middle East or Baklava in Turkey.
​Common Traditions
​While customs vary by country, you'll almost always see:
​New Clothes: People wear their finest outfits (often brand new) to signify a fresh start.
​Eidi: Children typically receive gifts or "Eidi" (small sums of cash) from elders.
