Ang Department of Science and Technology (DOST) sa Calabarzon at ang Cavite State University (CvSU) ay nagtutulungan upang palakasin ang industriya ng kape sa rehiyon.
Sa isang taped report na ipinalabas noong Biyernes, sinabi ni DOST Secretary Fortunato de la Peña na ang dalawang organisasyon ay nagtatrabaho upang bumuo ng tissue culture growth chamber para sa mga seedlings ng kape.
Kasama ang National Coffee Research, Development, and Extension Center, bumuo sila ng tissue culture growth chamber para makagawa ng mga seedling na walang sakit sa mas maikling panahon.
Aniya, “"Through the growth chamber innovation, tissue-cultured embryos are subjected to a tightly controlled environment, thus decreasing the chance of plant contamination and mortality rate. With its promising appeal to the market, the technology is foreseen to open more opportunities for the government and private organizations to put up income-generating tissue culture laboratories.”
Dagdag pa niya, malaki ang epekto ng teknolohiyang ito sa industriya ng kape at macapuno.
Iniulat din ni De la Peña na kamakailan lamang ay inilunsad ng DOST-Calabarzon at CvSU ang DOSTRUCK o DOST Technology sa Rehiyon para sa Upscaling of Community Knowledge.
Ang DOSTRUCK ay isang food safety compliant at mobile food processing hub na kasalukuyang nakatalaga sa Magallanes, Cavite.
Ginawa at sinubukan ng DOST-Metals Industry Research and Development Center (MIRDC) ang mobile hub na ginamit sa proyekto, aniya.
