Lessons on Responsibility, Purpose, and Building a Business That Matters

On September 18, 2026, ABM students of Liceo de Cagayan University had the opportunity to listen to Rodfranco C. Caballero, LPT, MPSM, Chief Executive Officer of Hamugaway Chain of Restaurant, as he shared his experiences and lessons on entrepreneurship, business management, and leadership during โ€œ๐€๐๐Œ ๐Œ๐ž๐ž๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ญ๐ก๐ž ๐๐จ๐ฌ๐ฌโ€

Rather than presenting entrepreneurship as simply a journey toward profit and success, the talk focused on the responsibility that comes with building and managing a business.

Caballero shared how his experiences in the public market, local government, and different business ventures shaped the way he approaches leadership. From the lessons of his early work to the systems and standards needed to manage a growing restaurant, he emphasized that every experience can become a lesson when it is reflected upon and applied.

One of the central ideas of the talk was stewardship. Being a business leader is not only about having a title or authority. It means being entrusted with resources, people, customer trust, supplier relationships, and the livelihood of employees and their families.

For customers, this means providing a dependable place worth returning to. For employees, it means creating opportunities to work, learn, develop confidence, and grow. For suppliers and local producers, it means creating relationships and demand. For the community, it means contributing something that people can value and recommend with pride.

The discussion also highlighted the importance of systems and consistency in business. As an organization grows, experience must be transformed into procedures, standards, training, and consistent ex*****on.

For the ABM students, the message went beyond starting a business. It was about developing the habits, responsibility, and character needed to become future professionals and business leaders.

The learning continued from 1:00 to 4:00 PM with the Fundamentals of Events Management Training, facilitated by Mr. Michael S. Villamor.

Asian Glossy Starling

Scientific name: Aplonis panayensis
Family: Sturnidae
Local/Philippine names: Philippine Glossy Starling, Kulansiyang/Galansiyang

Aplonis panayensis as having black, glossy-green plumage, a bright red eye, black bill, and black legs and tailโ€”essentially the exact combination.

The bright red iris is particularly diagnostic. The bird can look completely black from a distance, but in good light the feathers show a subtle green/blue metallic sheen.
