Father’s Day Tribute to Chef Raki Urbina

As we celebrate our fathers and father figures this week, the Laguna Group pays tribute to the late Chef Raki Urbina.

Chef was a loving Papa to his kids and this energy extended into his leadership in the kitchen. He was serious and goal-oriented yet kept the atmosphere warm with his wit and unforgettable wisdom. Systems and stories, Chef Raki truly had a knack for them.

Beneath his tough, no-nonsense exterior was a man with a big heart. Chef Raki cared about the growth of his team, working closely with each one on their professional and personal development. Pep talks were as commonplace as coordination meetings in his office.

While we are sad that you’re gone, we are grateful to have been under your wing, Chef. Your legacy will live on and we hope we make you proud.

We all may have been annoyingly inconvenienced, greatly affected, and fearfully endangered. Yet, we believe healing can start with nourishment with food and love.

Definitely it feels better for us that these seafoods and meats are used for our patients, medical warriors, frontline protectors, and less fortunate brothers, than in our freezers.

Happy cooking for the next few days in Vicente Sotto Memorial Medical Center’s (Nutrition & Dietary Services) and Don Bosco - Pasil.

We continue to cheer you on, frontliners! And to our fellowmen on quarantine, let’s do our part and stay safe at home.
