Rod Maceda Advocates Veganism as Path to “True World Peace” Amid Typhoon Tino Relief Efforts

CEBU CITY — Bisaya artist Rod Maceda has recently redefined the V-hand sign, now claiming it to symbolize both veganism and, without pause, “true world peace.” The move comes as Rod Maceda responds to netizens’ questions regarding his vision for addressing the ongoing crisis in Cebu following the devastation caused by Typhoon Tino.
In the wake of Typhoon Tino’s devastation in Cebu, Rod Maceda has found himself not only in the spotlight for his recent surge in organic traction over social media, but also at the center of public inquiry on disaster recovery and societal change.
Maceda, now preparing for the 2026 release of his official music videos, TV and radio features, and live performances following the online rollout of his LP Album Virtual Tour, has drawn attention for an unusual public statement: that he now claims the “V-hand sign” to symbolize veganism and what he calls “true world peace.”
Beyond symbolism, Maceda responded to netizens asking what solutions he believed could address Cebu’s current humanitarian crisis. Although he insists he has no intention of entering politics, his public comments have triggered discussion.
“I’m not into politics, never will be, and honestly, I don’t like corrupt politicians,” Maceda said. “They are evil parasites. I will never accept invites from corrupt politicians asking me to perform, even for millions. I will perform with my own budget, my own production, my album sales, and ticket sales. I can do it on my own.”
Maceda, 43, is a vegan advocate and environmentalist. Despite anticipating backlash, he delivered what he called his “one and only” explanation.
He argues that lasting societal change in Cebu must begin with a shift in lifestyle — specifically, a shift toward veganism.
He stated:
"But then, I'm allowing the public to know my ideas to solve this crisis as a vegan advocate and environmentalist... even though I know that many people are going to laugh at me and think I'm crazy.
There's nothing new about it anymore.
I know that the majority of Cebuanos are still meek, very stubborn and not willing to embrace or innerstand true progress.
But anyway, I'm going to say this once and never again. Basta nag ask kayo sa akin, hindi ako nagdamot, so hindi ako nagkulang o wala akong pagkukulang bilang kapwa tao ninyo.
So here goes —
All Cebuanos must become vegans or there can be no true change. It starts from deep within us all. Our mindset and it is affected by the cooked corpses they eat every day. I know people think I'm crazy basta hindi ako nagkulang sa inyo ha. Sinasabi ko ang totoo. Bahala na kayo.
As long as Cebuanos dwell in the old culture like fiestas with grilled dead animals on the table, their mindset will remain f-cked up. Mother Nature itself has been showing us that we f-cked up big time. Like really big time.
I don't need to elaborate more about veganism. Those who are only willing to listen and innerstand will know why veganism is the only way to true world peace and change in our society.
It will eradicate polluted minds, rapists, thieves, bullies and other evil forces in the next generation. We cannot save those who don't want to be saved. But there is hope with children below 8 years old.
We must educate them how to grow their own food and be kind to all sentient beings. And we must teach them to meditate at least five minutes every day. Avoid celebrities telling people to pray to God and yet endorse gambling causing a major split in the vibration of many people. Kaya marami depressed kasi sa kinakain nila na mga bangkay na hayop.
Umaakyat ang mikrobyo mula sa ngipin papunta sa utak. Kaya sira na mga utak.
We can still save the children to create a true peaceful planet in the next generation. It will also restore forests.
Corrupt politicians and their puppet celebrities endorsing online gambling including their deceptive social media influencers endorsing products that are not good for the human health and the rest of their kind are all intertwined and interconnected evil forces.
Anong connect? The majority enables these evil forces to dominate. And that's why cutting of trees and destruction of mother nature follows. We cannot do anything about them now. Damage has been done and Mother Nature only gives back.
For fast relief, for now, it's best to have all the typhoon victims get a warm bath, brush their teeth and eat fresh fruits and drink clean water with a pinch of salt.
Okay lang na hindi sila kumain 3 times a day. Hindi sila mamamatay sa gutom.
Trust me. I know this. Fasting resets the adult human body. Yung mga bata lang pa kainin 2 times a day ng fresh fruits and always drink water with a pinch of salt to stay hydrated."
The artist said Cebu’s cultural traditions, including fiestas involving roasted dead animals, reflect an outdated mindset. According to him, humanity is now facing the consequences.
Maceda believes veganism, coupled with the moral education of children, could reduce future crime.
“Veganism is the only way to true world peace. It will eradicate polluted minds, rapists, thieves, bullies, and other evil forces in the next generation,” he claimed.
Maceda added that children under eight should learn to grow their own food, show compassion to animals, and practice daily meditation. He attributed depression, societal decline, and environmental destruction to what he calls “interconnected evil forces” of corrupt officials, gambling endorsements, exploitative influencers, and the public’s willingness to support them.
He also called for students to return to online learning, saying “it is time to eradicate the old world.”
Maceda concludes with a challenge to the public: those who laugh or dismiss his views, he says, are “not yet willing to embrace true progress.” Those who innerstand will act.
Whether embraced or rejected, his statements have sparked conversation in the midst of a crisis — highlighting a growing trend of influencers and public figures using their platforms to promote personal philosophies alongside public advocacy.

Rod Maceda's organization, WCN, In the aftermath of the earthquake and typhoon, quietly sent donations consisting of food and brand-new clothing to affected communities. No cameras were brought and no documentation was released for social media, a choice he defended by saying that charity should not be treated as content. “I’m not a vlogger,” he noted, adding that it was enough for the public simply to know that WCN participated in helping victims without turning relief work into a spectacle.
